Dropbox is a user-friendly

You an with out any effort share files with friends ,PC’s , and back them up.

You only have to follow these simple steps

• Register on Dropbox
• Download the application
• Put your files in the selected directory
• Install the application on the pc’s you also want the files

If you make the drop box directory your my documents directory. All your files will be backed up automatically, You do not have to do anything!

And all  the files will be synced between the pc’s with the application.

It is also very handy when you want to send someone a big file.

Softline pastel advertise they have thousands of users which use pastel and imply(probably because they know it is not true) that if many people use it it must be good.

But what the people out there does not know is you pay a arm and a leg for the application and hope it will help with your accounting admin But!!!

• It will provide you with ours of frustration with a non working no proper and clear help file or online help.
• There application is so difficult to learn that you have to pay thousands of rands for training
• The application crashes every view hours and you have to restart the program
• It is not as easy as install the application and it works after a month of struggle and many support tickets my pastel is till not working
• You have to pay thousands of rands to get support that if pastel was a proper application you would not have needed.
• If you call there ridiculously expensive support line and had the patience to hold for 30minutes + They tell you to do this and after you tried it it still does not work and you have to call again.
• After you called them again because it is not working you find out they commented on your profile “- customer was just complaining” but the problem is still not resolved?

Why they don’t change after they realise pastel is not as good as implied:

• If you have spent thousands on something are you just going to throw it a way?
• You have to enter all the financial data of the financial year for the new program to work.
• you have pent hours entering all your data into the program and do not want to go through it again.
• It means your invoices might be late or incorrect for a month or 2 while entering all the data.

If you pay this much for a application you expect it to work. But now I suspect they realised they will make more money if they charge a subscription that starts at one third of the price of the application per month so that they can help you get the application to work that should have worked in the first place.

If you spend R2 500 for the 3rd best package you can not even do recurring invoices and have to type out all the invoices every month!!! Is that not why you want the application? It is EASIER AND QUICKER to do this in excel!!!

WHY THEN PAY THOUSANDS FOR APPLICATION THAT WILL WAST YOUR TIME?

If only I knew this before I spent allot of money on this crappy application. and I bet most other people also would not ether.

Is it only me or is everyone working with MyGate experiencing poor to non-existent customer care from MyGate?

I have previously developed 2 MyGate modules. And found that you have to ask MyGate 100 times and threaten them before you get anything out of them.

I also had a account with them which they just closed without any reason or any pre-warning.

They have changed the way the enterprise account work, hence the one module needs to be updated but as usual they are not willing to hep there customers that keep them in business?

Aren’t you supposed to try and keep your customers happy at all costs?

MWEB announced that they will be launching on 22 March South Africa’s first affordable uncapped ADSL.

There is 1 competitor, screamer but their service does not work so don not even do the effort to go to their site.

MWEB will ask for a 384 ADSL account including line rental R349 and excluding the line rental R219 per month.
and for a 512 ADSL including the line rental R599 and excluding the line rental R219 per month.
For a 4096 ADSL including the line rental R899 and excluding the line rental R539 per month.

The Accounts is shaped which is not ideal for the heavy down-loaders but is still the bet option available in South Africa I know of.

An unshaped service has no prioritization of any traffic and operates on a “first come, first served” basis regardless of which protocol is used .

A shaped service is a moderated way that data is delivered to your computer through your ADSL line. Certain things are given priority over others, such as websites, are given priority over email being downloaded. e.g. If you are downloading your email, and surfing the web, you will get to the web page first before your emails have completed downloading.

According to the article on News24 MWEB will lose money at first but later if there number climb they will start making money.
This tell me that there is no catch and hopefully I am right

I have stumbled upon an article that described the way a programmer work and think better than I understood how I worked.

My wife always complained that I never call or sms her at while I am at work, although I am guilty, this article explain why it is so difficult for me to remember to call or sms her.

The article title is “Programming is Like a Dream” It explains that To write a program the programmer needs to so the bigger picture and understand how all the parts, functions, data… fits and affects each other.

When the programmer starts he/she needs to remember all this information and piece it together. This process can take up to an hour or even two. Because of this if you work for 30min and need to take a break you will never get much work done. While if you work for 3hours without taking a break you can get a lot done.

This is also probably where the programmer and Coffee come together. The coffee helps us to work and concentrate for longer stretches hence making us more productive.

To go back to the sms during the day, I go into such a deep trance/dream state that I do not think of anything else while programming. By asking her to read the article made her more understanding to my situation.

Dovado have released the following information

A new firmware is now available for download.

We strongly recommend you to upgrade to this release! We have corrected an issue which was pointed out to us by a few of you out there. The issue was that the UMR might lock itself up (“crash”) during operation. NOTICE : We strongly recommend you to upgrade to this release! In releasing this firmware, we have removed versions 4.0 and 4.0.1 off the web and have incorporated the release notes into this version, thus giving you a better total overview of our 4.x progress thus far.

Aside from that, we have confirmed support for Sprint’s Sierra Wireless Compass 597. For those of you with a Huawei 21Mbps modem, we have added support for the E182e model in this release as well, however, what you should bear in mind is that the Huawei 21Mbps modems do not output more than 2.5-3Mbps on the downlink (though uplink is very healthy!).

The latest firmware 4.0 released on 2009-08-10 supports a usb GPS devide that will allow you to track your router where ever it go.

How ever there is a few flaws with this.

1. Why would you keep a usb gps in a device if you took it with out permission
2. The router can be reset and you would not be able to track it any more and the gps can be plugged back in.
3. If your router is taken to a different country it might just be cheaper to buy an new one instead of buying expensive tickets and sitting x housr in a plane to go and take it back

But there are advantages, if the router is inside your car or a locked box,container… with a gps you can track your car…

DOVADO Released new Firmware for the UMR the only neotel capable router on the planet.

To my knowledge the umr is one of the routers with the widest range of supported usb modems and if you have a modem that is not supported give me or them a shout and they will probably add support for the modem.

The new firmware fixed the issue where the router shows  the signal as “no service” it now displays “Not Available” for the neotel Prime device
